Georgia-founded healthtech startup Clinova has secured investment from Blossom Capital, joining the firm’s portfolio as the AI-powered clinical trial recruitment company prepares to relocate its operations to Saudi Arabia.
Clinova is developing an AI platform designed to help hospitals identify eligible patients for clinical trials by processing handwritten, multilingual and unstructured medical records. According to the company, its technology can identify potential trial participants in minutes rather than months, achieving a 94% patient-match accuracy rate.
A key part of Clinova’s approach is its focus on markets where regulatory and data privacy requirements can make it difficult for global platforms to access hospital records.
The platform operates directly within hospital infrastructure, meaning patient records are not transmitted externally. Patients are initially identified anonymously, while personal information is revealed only after explicit digital consent is provided through their doctor. The system also maintains an audit trail covering access events and patient matches.
Clinova is currently operating in Georgia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, giving the company access to a potential market of around 300 million patients that it says remains largely inaccessible to global pharmaceutical companies and clinical trial platforms.
Following the investment, Clinova is now relocating from Georgia to Saudi Arabia with the support of Blossom Capital, positioning the Kingdom as the company’s next base for expansion.
The move reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a destination for international AI and healthtech companies, as the country continues investing in healthcare digitalisation, artificial intelligence and technology entrepreneurship.
For Clinova, establishing a presence in Saudi Arabia could also provide a gateway to hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organisations across the wider Middle East while supporting further international expansion.
