Noon Academy Strengthens AI Learning Ecosystem with Almakhfi Acquisition

Saudi Arabia’s education technology sector is entering a new phase of consolidation as Noon Academy has acquired Almakhfi, one of the Kingdom’s leading digital platforms for Qudurat and Tahsili exam preparation.

The acquisition comes shortly after Noon Academy raised SAR 153 million ($40.8 million) in a Series B funding round led by Wa’ed Ventures and Raed Ventures, signaling that the company is deploying fresh capital to strengthen its position as one of the region’s leading AI-powered education platforms.

Founded in 2013 by Mohammed Aldhalaan and Abdulaziz AlSaeed, Noon Academy has grown into one of the Middle East’s largest social learning platforms, offering live interactive classes alongside AI-powered learning tools covering school curricula, English language learning, programming, robotics, and emerging technologies.

Almakhfi, established eight years ago, has helped more than 250,000 students prepare for Saudi Arabia’s highly competitive Qudurat and Tahsili examinations through specialized digital content and exam preparation tools.

By integrating Almakhfi’s exam preparation expertise into its platform, Noon Academy plans to deliver more personalized learning experiences powered by artificial intelligence while expanding access to high-quality educational content for students across Saudi Arabia.

Why This Matters

The deal reflects a broader shift taking place across Saudi Arabia’s edtech ecosystem. Rather than building every capability internally, well-funded startups are increasingly turning to acquisitions to accelerate product development, deepen user engagement, and expand their market reach.

For Noon Academy, the acquisition strengthens one of the most important stages of a student’s educational journey—university entrance exam preparation—while increasing opportunities to leverage AI for adaptive learning and personalized study paths.

More broadly, the transaction highlights the growing maturity of Saudi Arabia’s startup ecosystem. Following larger funding rounds, startups are increasingly using capital not only for expansion but also for strategic acquisitions, mirroring trends seen in more developed technology markets.

As Saudi Arabia continues investing in digital transformation under Vision 2030, education technology is emerging as one of the sectors where AI, localized content, and strategic M&A are combining to reshape how students learn. Noon Academy’s acquisition of Almakhfi signals that the next phase of growth in the Kingdom’s edtech industry will likely be driven as much by ecosystem consolidation as by organic expansion.
