Dawraty Raises $2M Seed Round to Scale AI-Powered Learning Across the Region

Kuwait-based edtech startup Dawraty has raised $2 million in Seed funding, with backing from Qatar Development Bank (QDB), as the company looks to expand its AI-powered learning infrastructure across the Gulf and wider region.

The round values Dawraty at $10 million and remains open to additional co-investors, with a final close expected by the end of November 2026.

Founded by Dr. Ryan Dougherty and Hamad AlThunayan, Dawraty operates a bilingual, AI-powered education platform designed for institutions delivering professional and accredited learning in Arabic and English.

Rather than focusing primarily on direct-to-consumer education, the startup works with universities, medical colleges, hospitals, professional training academies, school networks and government organisations. Its platform enables institutions to deliver and track learning across areas including healthcare education, professional certification and exam preparation.

The company has already expanded beyond Kuwait, establishing operations across Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan. Its institutional network includes Kuwait University, the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance and Johns Hopkins for continuing medical education.

Dawraty is also strengthening its commercial presence in Qatar. The startup recently signed a partnership and reseller agreement with the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), securing its first contracted institutional revenue in the country.

The QDB investment followed a due diligence process through the bank’s 2026 Accelerator Program.

Dawraty plans to use the new capital to expand into existing and new markets, scale its bilingual learning infrastructure and broaden its offering across healthcare and other areas of professional education.

The funding comes as Gulf institutions increasingly adopt digital and AI-enabled platforms for workforce development, professional accreditation and continuous education — creating new opportunities for regional edtech companies built around institutional rather than purely consumer learning models.
