Egypt-based recycling technology platform Dawar Circular Solutions has secured a nine-figure financing facility from a consortium of local financial institutions, including GlobalCorp, Tawasoa, and Commercial International Bank (CIB), marking a significant milestone for the country’s growing circular economy sector.
Founded in 2017 by Amr Fathi, Mostafa Khairat, and Hussein Barrada, Dawar operates a digital infrastructure platform that tracks, verifies, and manages the flow of recyclable materials across Egypt. The company has already documented more than 90,000 tons of recyclable materials across 22 governorates, helping transform fragmented waste collection networks into transparent and auditable supply chains.
The newly secured financing will be used to support the trading of recyclable materials moving through Dawar’s network. By combining financing with digital traceability, the company enables waste collectors, aggregators, and traders to participate in a more structured and transparent recycling ecosystem.
Dawar’s technology platform provides end-to-end visibility into material origins, handling processes, and recycling pathways, helping businesses meet increasingly stringent environmental and regulatory requirements. The company believes that verified material traceability is becoming a critical requirement for accessing both international markets and sustainable financing opportunities.
As demand for ESG-compliant supply chains continues to grow across the Middle East and Africa, Dawar is positioning itself as a key infrastructure player in the region’s circular economy. The startup is also exploring expansion opportunities beyond Egypt, targeting markets that face similar challenges in waste management, recycling transparency, and supply chain formalization.
The financing facility highlights increasing institutional interest in waste management and circular economy technologies, sectors that have historically remained underserved despite their significant economic and environmental potential.
