Letsia Expands into Saudi Arabia with $13.3M Data Center Investment

RIYADH — UAE-based technology conglomerate Letsia has announced a SAR 50 million ($13.3 million) investment to build Letsia HyperDC, a new data center and enterprise cloud platform in Riyadh, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as one of the fastest-growing digital infrastructure markets in the Middle East.

The first phase of the project will include a 5,200-square-meter (56,000 sq ft) facility capable of hosting 100 to 150 IT racks. Designed with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.4, the data center aims to deliver high-performance computing while maintaining strong energy efficiency through advanced cooling systems, renewable energy integration, and sustainable construction practices.

Once operational, Letsia HyperDC will provide cloud infrastructure, enterprise applications, and AI computing capacity for both public and private sector organizations. The company expects pilot operations to begin in February 2027.

According to Mohamed Rabie Moawad, Chairman of Letsia Holding, the investment marks an important step in the company’s regional expansion strategy and reflects growing demand for advanced digital infrastructure across Saudi Arabia.

Why It Matters

The investment highlights a broader trend shaping the Middle East’s technology landscape: regional technology companies are increasingly investing across GCC markets rather than expanding solely into Europe or North America.

As artificial intelligence adoption accelerates, demand for local cloud infrastructure and data processing capacity has become a strategic priority. Governments and enterprises are seeking sovereign, low-latency infrastructure capable of supporting AI models, enterprise workloads, and digital public services.

Saudi Arabia has emerged as one of the region’s largest beneficiaries of this shift. Backed by Vision 2030, the Kingdom continues to attract billions of dollars in digital infrastructure investments from both global hyperscalers and regional technology companies.

Global players including Google, AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, and Huawei have all announced cloud and data center projects in Saudi Arabia, while AWS alone has committed $5.3 billion to establish a new cloud region. Earlier this year, Saudi Aramco also announced major investments in high-performance computing infrastructure and launched the Kingdom’s first commercial quantum computing initiative.

For the broader MENA startup ecosystem, expanding regional data center capacity could lower cloud latency, improve regulatory compliance through local data hosting, and provide stronger infrastructure for AI-native startups building the next generation of products across the region.

Letsia’s investment further signals that the Gulf’s digital economy is becoming increasingly interconnected, with regional companies playing a growing role in building the infrastructure that will underpin AI, cloud computing, and enterprise innovation over the coming decade.
