Causa Prima, a startup building AI-powered infrastructure for B2B finance, has raised $10 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Creandum, with participation from Borusan Ventures, Kfund, HelloWorld, Angel Invest, and a group of angel investors from companies including Qonto, Pennylane, SAP, ING, SoFi, Lidl, and Google DeepMind.
The company is tackling one of the most persistent inefficiencies in enterprise finance: the fragmented systems used by buyers and suppliers to manage payables, receivables, invoice disputes, and payment terms.
Founded by veteran fintech entrepreneur Maex Ament, whose previous company Taulia was acquired by SAP, Causa Prima is building an agent-to-agent AI network that allows businesses and suppliers to interact through autonomous AI agents capable of negotiating, resolving disputes, approving invoices, and optimizing payment terms without human intervention.
According to Borusan Ventures Founder and President Defne Kocabıyık Narter, most AI systems currently used by buyers and suppliers operate independently. When exceptions or disagreements arise, processes typically revert to manual intervention. Causa Prima’s infrastructure aims to bridge that gap by enabling AI agents on both sides of a transaction to communicate directly and manage financial workflows autonomously.
Today, a single disputed invoice can trigger weeks of email exchanges between finance teams, while missed early-payment discounts and inefficient cash-flow management continue to cost enterprises millions of dollars annually. Causa Prima seeks to eliminate these bottlenecks by connecting buyers and suppliers within a shared AI-powered network.
The platform’s AI agents can handle approval workflows, dispute resolution, and payment-term decisions in real time, reducing operational overhead and accelerating business transactions.
The company already reports more than 3,000 active users and is focused on helping enterprises optimize working capital management and digitize supply chain finance processes.
Why It Matters
Causa Prima represents a new wave of enterprise AI startups moving beyond internal productivity tools toward autonomous business-to-business operations. While much of the current AI market focuses on assisting individual employees, Causa Prima is building infrastructure that enables companies themselves to transact through AI agents.
The investment also highlights growing investor conviction around agentic AI in financial operations. As enterprises increasingly deploy AI across procurement, accounting, treasury, and supply chain functions, the ability for AI systems from different organizations to communicate and negotiate directly could fundamentally reshape how commercial transactions are executed.
For corporate investors such as Borusan Ventures, the opportunity extends beyond fintech. Autonomous financial coordination between suppliers and buyers has applications across manufacturing, logistics, industrial operations, and global supply chains—sectors where operational efficiency and working capital optimization remain critical competitive advantages.
